Gordon is a baritone, music educator and choral conductor. He studied trumpet and singing at the RSAMD and has performed with many instrumental and vocal groups. His varied singing career spans solo, vocal ensemble, choral and operatic work as well as recordings and broadcasts. From 1999-2003, he was a member of the Chorus at English National Opera, but in September 2003 moved to Kintore with his wife, the soprano and singing teacher, Gillian Jack, and their two young children, Fiona and Stuart. Gordon is a full-time professional musician. He appears with choral societies as a soloist and sings in professional vocal ensembles; teaches singing privately and at Robert Gordon's College. In music education he is a Kodaly Instructor for Aberdeenshire Council (teaching primary age children musicianship through singing and games) and also makes music with pre-school children. He has directed many choirs over the years in England, Iceland and Scotland (including the National Youth Choir of Scotland Training Choir) and is the Rehearsal Director of the Edinburgh Festival Chorus, Aberdeen Section. Gordon is delighted to be the new Musical Director of the Aberdeen Bach Choir and looks forward to a happy and musically fulfilling relationship. |
