The following extensive information about Downies living in West Central Fife in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries has been compiled by Jill Martin with the help of a number of other people. It lists the many descendants of David Downie and Janet Greig, who married in Auchterderran in 1754. No earlier reference to David Downie has yet been found.
I have put up quite a few family group pages for the descendants of David Downie and Janet Greig. This is work in progress so check back often. I now have pages for all the grandchildren whom we have traced (December 2003) and since then have been working on the next generation, which is not yet complete (February 2004).
